About BGP
Black Gully Printmakers (BGP) are a community member group who meet up to develop their own practice in the studio space within the Museum of Printing below New England Regional Art Museum (NERAM), in Armidale NSW.
We’re run by a diverse group of passionate motivated volunteers that believe in the importance of printmaking and the Museum of Printing. The Museum of Printing (MOP) displays a collection of priceless items, including countless lead- type, wood-blocks, printing presses, and typewriters. In addition, the collection contains items from F.T Wimble & Co, Australia's sole type foundry during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Learn more about MOP on the NERAM website here. The collection is utilised by BGP who are a group of multidisciplinary artists and print enthusiasts known in Armidale as the Black Gully Printmakers. This unique partnership allows the collection to be shared with local communities and attracts storytellers from around the country.
Through group exhibitions, self-directed projects and occasional workshops we seek to make the arts accessible, relevant and sustainable to the community.
All BGP members are also volunteers who take turns to open MOP to the public between 11am – 3pm Tuesdays and Sundays. BGP members also have access to the studio space during NERAM’s opening hours. To learn more and find out about joining the group, contact us.
We’re a space to come and refine your own practice, and BGP members often exhibit together and are collaborative. MOP is a volunteer run space, and members take turns in opening the Museum of Printing to the public on a Tuesday and Sunday between 11am – 3pm.
